Aston Clinton u3a – Strollers Group

16 January, 2023
Aston Clinton U3a have invited any WTu3a members to join in with their Strollers walking group on the 4th Thursday of the month at 10.30.  The walks are quite leisurely, only 2+ miles, lasting 1 -1.5 hours, and try to avoid hills and stiles.  
 
They usually have coffee afterwards if there is somewhere close by.  Contact the group co-ordinator, Jane Hudson via the Aston Clinton web page, or this link.

u3a Poetry Competition – Open Now

Our movement wide poetry competition is open now. The deadline is Friday 27 January 2023 and we’re looking for poems of less than 16 lines on any topic. The three winning poems will be published in Third Age Matters and on the u3a website. Find the competition rules and submit your poem on the Poetry Competition webpage.

Science & Technology

Plans for 2023 

Thursday, 2nd February at The Weston Turville Chapel Hall.  An overview of GPS “SatNav”, at 2pm. Cost £2. 

Thursday, 2nd March, a visit to Greatmoor Incineration plant. 

Tuesday, 4th April, a visit to the London Transport Museum, Acton.  Cost for the coach and 2 tours £40.

Friday, 5th May (tbc), a visit to Chiltern Open Air Museum.  Entry and tour cost £9.50.

Thursday, 1st June, a visit to the Battle of Britain Bunker and Museum near Uxbridge. Own Transport.  Tour cost £8.

Walking Group

A circular 4 mile walk in woods and returning on the Ridgeway.

Aylesbury Vale u3a – Rock n Roll Party

Aylesbury Vale u3a are holding their annual Rock’n’Roll Christmas Party Disco on Thursday 15th December from 7.00 – 10.00 pm at Aylesbury tennis club on Wendover Road.

The party features music from the 50s/60s/70s with a licenced bar, raffle and mince pies. Tickets are £5 in aid of a local charity supporting children with brain cancer.

All WTu3a members are welcome, so if you wold like to come, please email John Wilford at sound@avu3a.org.uk for more information and how to purchase tickets either by post or by direct bank transfer.
