Weston Turville U3A Newsletter – August 2015

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIRMAN: I would like to thank everyone who helps at the general meeting. I believe you make a major contribution to the warmth and hospitality experienced by our members. If you, as a member, wish to help, please talk to one of the committee.

Susan Connolly runs a Poetry Writing Group (see our website for details). Group leaders could
you please keep me informed of any major changes to your group.

Glynn White will be collecting names and payment of £2 for the U3A 2016 diaries at the general meeting.

Apparently members are receiving spam emails purportedly from other WTU3A members. Before you open the email check the title of the email. If it is not a subject you know about or from someone you expect to hear from; treat with caution!

Note from the Editor: I wish to thank you for your response to my appeal for volunteers last month, the immediate crises appears to be over but there will be a need for new committee members next year. Our constitution was set up to enable new replacements on the committee at regular times to stop the committee becoming stale and to inject fresh ideas: the downside of this is that we lose committee members nearly every year. If you think you could assist us as a committee
member please contact Dave Johnson (Chairman) or any other committee member to find out what it entails. It is not an arduous role but would require about 6-8 hours a month of your time.

If anyone, group leader or not, has anything they wish to put into the newsletter could they please email it to me by the Friday before the general meeting. I will not guarantee inclusion but I quite often can make a space to include something that is of general interest to all members. Please remember that this information is also available on our website. Mandi Simons
