Are we ‘Top of The Pots’?

22 March, 2013

pot-holePerhaps not – but it certainly feels like it!

Pot-Holes are certainly annoying, damaging, dangerous and expensive for road users and local councils alike.

There has been some progress in this area on making the best use of the meager road-repair budget and you can contribute to it by using an on-line system to report pot-holes.

The system is BCC’s own Report a Problem site, where you can report a range of transport related problems as well as pot-holes. This page outlines the options but a starting point might be to see if the problem has been reported or follow the progress on existing problems – you can search using and address or zooming in on a map.

If a problem is not yet on the system then the BCC don’t officially  know about it, so it’s worth reporting the details so that it joins the queue (probably rather long) of being repaired.

You might feel that this is a waste of time but you report cannot go unheeded as it will be recorded for all to see and the more complete the record of pot-holes the greater chance of increased funding allocation and, more importantly, better scheduling of repairs where holes are close together; and, possibly, more effective repairs using larger scale methods rather than individual patching.

So, this is not ‘whingeing’ it can make a difference – and it feels good to have done it! Have a go, tell a friend, make sure your ‘favourite’ pot-hole gains the recognition  it deserves!
