Men in Sheds – What are they doing … ?
Well, quite a lot really and they are doing it all over the country. We have one in Aylesbury, a new one is opening in High Wycombe and there are around 200 more!
The movement began in Australia when men realised they could come together around practical tasks on a regular basis, particularly if they had a designated place or workshop where tools and work in progress read more …
Weston Turville U3A Newsletter – February 2015
COMMITTEE MEMBERS REQUIRED. Would you like to become more involved in our U3A? We are looking for 2 new Committee Members to come on board and replace 2 members who are standing down at the AGM in April. We are looking for people who have energy and enthusiasm to help take this U3A forward. You need to be present for 8 out of the 11 committee meetings per year. (We do realise that you have other interests but to be on the committee does require some commitment!) You would be expected to deputise, on occasion, for one of the officers and there will be a requirement to take on responsibilities including setting up the hall for meetings. Committee Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month or 8 days before the Monthly Meeting depending how the calendar works. Please contact either Dave Johnson (chair) or Glynn White (Secretary) for further information.
SPEAKER: Our next meeting on Thursday 26th February is Zachary read more …

Weston Turville U3A Newsletter – October 2014
It is not often I start a newsletter with sad news, but this is one of those times. It is with deep regret that I have to inform you of the sudden death of Maureen Absalom, who died this week, Tuesday 14th October, after a fall from a cliff in Dorset whilst on a walking holiday. Maureen was a very popular U3A member who had a happy outlook on life and was always willing to take on new challenges. Maureen was an active member of several groups including garden visits, walking and extreme visits. Funeral arrangements have not yet been confirmed as her daughter has only just flown in from America. I will update you when more details are known. Maureen leaves a son and a daughter and we send our condolences to her family and to her close friends Lynda and Ian Mackay and Helen McCuskie. read more …

Rumours of closing membership of WTU3A are greatly exaggerated …

OK, so our meeting place is not a TARDIS* but despite steadily growing membership there is no prospect of closing membership in the foreseeable future!
Our great venue is the Aylesbury Rugby Club clubhouse which has great parking capacity outside and capacity inside for nearly twice our current membership.
* For non-Whovians this is a disguised vehicle – the Mark 2 Time and Relative Dimensions in Space craft that can travel in time and space and, naturally, it is nearly infinitely larger on the inside than the outside. (V. good for wedding receptions).

So if you have anything you wish published please still send it to me. There is loads and loads of good stuff in this newsletter so I will let you get on with reading it! read more …
Extreme Activities – redefining retirement!
