Garden Visits 

27th September

‘Patchwork’, 22 Hall Park Gate Berkhamsted HP4 2NJ

Patchwork is a 1/4 acre garden with lots of year-round colour, interest and perfume. It is a sloping site containing rockeries, 2 small ponds, herbaceous borders, island beds with dahlias, roses, fuchsias, hostas, begonias and patio pots – all set against a background of trees and shrubs of varying colours.

The entry charge will be £7 a head which goes to the NGS and biscuits/tea/coffee/soft drinks will be available for a £1 donation to Tring Lions Club.

Quiz Afternoon

Friday, 22nd September

This new group gets underway at 2.30pm at the Chapel Hall, Weston Turville.  

Individuals and couples welcome.  No need to get a team together. Questions are suitable for all levels of knowledge.

Gardening

Monday, 25th September

The inaugural meeting for this new group will at 2pm in Weston Turville Chapel Hall. Cost. £2. Thereafter the group will meet on the fourth Monday of the month.  For more information contact Jenny Hunt at gardening@wtu3a.org.uk.

Walking Group 

Tuesday, 12th September 

The walk starts and finishes at the Chiltern Forest Golf Club and will feature just over four miles mainly in Wendover Woods. Transport can be provided from the Chandos in Weston Turville at 10am.

Tuesday, 10th October

The October walk is 4 – 4½ miles long starting from the Lions of Bledlow.

Science & Technology

Thursday, 5th October a visit and afternoon tour to The National Museum of Computing, near Bletchley Park, Milton Keynes. Cost will be £23 for entrance and tour. The 2 hour tour will start at 2pm. They have examples of the earliest computers from The Lorenz/ Colossus to the first digital types. Own transport. Full details on the flyer. A couple of places still available.

Tuesday, 31st October the rearranged visit to the London Transport Museum, Acton.  The fee for the coach and the two tours (Depot and Poster tour) is £40 (subject to change if coach costs rise). Full details on the flyer.  There are a couple of places available.

Wednesday, 8th November, 2.30pm – Greatest Days£32.50

The musical follows five boy band obsessed best friends in the 1990s, who reunite over 20 years later to see their heartthrobs one last time in what could be the Greatest Days of their life. Featuring more than 15 record-breaking Take That songs.

Thursday, 23rd November, 2.30pm – The Full Monty – £28.00

As in the 1997 smash hit film, this brand-new production is a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, laughs and heartbreak. Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the film.

Cambridge – Mosque and time in Cambridge

Monday, 18th September

Cambridge for a tour of the mosque, free time in the city and a cream tea in Grantchester Gardens. Cost £45-£50 (max). Check with Mandi or Jayne for available places on trips@wtu3a.org.uk

Winchester Christmas Market  

Friday, 17th November

Coach only.   Visit Winchester’s Christmas Market with five hours free time to visit the market, Cathedral or shops. Cost tbc. Names taken shortly.

Rummikub

Tuesday, 19th September then     17th October, 2pm

 

The game of Rummikub is based loosely on Rummy (but with a twist).  The group meets the third Tuesday of the month at 14:00 at The Five Bells, Weston Turville. Contact the group leader Deborah Brown for more details at rummikub@wtu3a.org.uk.

Coffee Morning

Thursday,  21st September then      19th October

The group (in conjunction with Aston Clinton u3a) meets for tea, coffee or a drink and a chat at The Five Bells, Weston Turville, at 10.30am on the third Thursday of the month.

CHESS

The Chess Group meets on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month at  Chandos Arms, Weston Turville (next one is Friday,  22nd September and then 13th October).

Grub Club
 
Unfortunately, there will be no Grub Club at the moment, as unfortunately, Annie Edwards is out of action for a while due to her falling and breaking her leg. We wish her all the best with her recovery. 
 

Pétanque (weather permitting)

Details for pétanque group sessions:

  • They will be every Monday afternoon.
  • Timing 2pm to 4pm
  • Venue is the new terrain behind Weston Turville village hall
  • Parking is available
