14th April 10.30am on Zoom – The Migration of Birds

Every year millions of birds fly, often great distances, to sites where they build nests and bring up their young before returning to their winter feeding grounds. Often they will use the same nesting site year after year. Why do they go to such lengths with all the risks involved?  Bryan Williams, the presenter, is a retired biologist.

Sweet Thames

This two day event describes how the Thames has shaped our region, the wildlife and ecology of the Thames area and also a history of Tough’s Boatyard which was involved with the Dunkirk evacuation.

Butterflies within a Changing Environment

This talk is by Dr. Ian Bedford on a fascinating subject.  The closing date for this event is Wednesday 24th March, and the cost is £3 per device.  Full details of the event and how to book can be found on this flyer.

This study day will explore the symbolic meanings given to flowers and how it affected floral arrangements during history.  Katherine Kear, the National chairman of NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies), is the speaker and will offer two 45 minute lectures and demonstrate her points in the second by creating a period style of floral arrangement as she talks.
