Check your hearing

National Charity RNID has asked us to share their hearing test, to ensure that people with hearing loss get the support they need. The test will help you find out how your hearing is and give you advice about to do next. It takes less time than making a cup of tea and all you need is a laptop or phone, headphones and a quiet spot to sit in.

Heritage Open Days

Countless stories and places have been celebrated with Heritage Open Days and there will be thousands more to explore this September. 

Sarah Holloway is Programme Manager for Heritage Open Days, England’s largest festival of history and culture (part of European Heritage Days). From childhood visits to volunteering placements she’s followed her passion for stories of the past with a career focused on increasing public engagement with our wonderful heritage.

Climate Modelling
Tuesday, 19 Sept, 10am

A talk from Ian Hawker, leader of East Suffolk u3a’s Climate Change group.  Climate models are used to predict long term changes to the Earth’s climate.

As it develops, climate modelling includes a wider range of factors such as effectiveness of climate mitigation policy, adaptation planning, ecosystem response & societal change.

History of the British Secret Intelligence Services
Friday, 22 Sept, 2pm

Moira MacQuaide, Guildford u3a, will talk us through and present on her connection to the Intelligence Services,  20th century intelligence services, including MI5, MI6, GCHQ, Bletchley Park and Counter Terrorism.
