Historic Buildings Visits

12 February, 2020

We have now confirmed the details of our three visits this year.  Apologies but we have had to change the dates for the first two visits so please delete the old dates in your diaries and put in the new ones.   We also changed the first visit to Upton house instead of Greys Court because the garden group went there last year.

If you want to come on any of these visits you can e-mail historicbuildings@wtu3a.org.uk via the link button below or put your name down at the monthly meetings.  We shall be collecting the cheques for £13 for the first visit to Upton House at the next monthly meeting in February.  Further details can be found on the diary page of the WTU3A website

Upton House was purchased in 1927 by the 2nd Viscount Bearsted and has been remodelled.  The renovations created a made to measure home to showcase a world class art and porcelain collection, including works by Bosch, Stubbs and Canaletto.

Lady Bearsted’s passion for plants is revealed with spring bulbs, herbaceous planting and kitchen garden – all reflected in the mirror pool.  Please note that it is a terraced garden with steps.
