Weston Turville U3A Computer Group – Change of Format

8 May, 2017

The Weston Turville U3A computer group which is run in conjunction with Aston Clinton and Wendover U3As is now closing in its current format.

This closure is due to members no longer needing our services as they now know what they are doing!   The good news is that computer assistance will remain on an ‘as required’ basis.

If you need assistance with a particular issue contact your U3A rep for computers (for WTU3A me!) and I will get someone from the volunteer list to try and assist you.

You can email me in the normal manner or if really stuck, ring me….. please do not turn up at the Halton Village Hall because you will be lonely standing in the car park on your own.

To raise the bar, this trip will include “over water” instruction for those that graduate from the land based training.

Zipline … yes, but Extreme Zipline!

22 January, 2016

Extreme Visits Logo small Just like a geriatric bunch of lemmings, members  are planning to travel to North Wales and  leap off over a 500ft drop over jagged rock of a disused slate mine for a long hurtle down a long zip line (well, the longest in Europe at over 5,000ft) at pretty high speeds (well, actually the fastest in the WORLD, sometimes exceeding 150ft/second) … and paying for it! There’s even the opportunity for friends or relatives to come and watch or, for those of a nervous disposition, see the other features of the old mines.

Surprisingly the queues are forming for this trip! If you want to join in this enterprise look here for the details.

food appreciation - Cezanne 1… and we’ll be awaiting its arrival at the Village Gate to intercept it as it arrives to ‘enjoy’ the new arrival and truly enjoy the four course menu that it will accompany.

The new owner of the Village Gate, David Cavalier, has brought this restaurant to new heights  in food and drink (though he’ll, no doubt have reservations about the Nouveau!).

He has achieved seven Michelin stars in his 35 year career and his vision is to bring quality food and drink to Wendover offering a family friendly service and value for money. Local ingredients and skill make the dining experience unforgettable.

Here are the details of the event. This will be popular so make sure you get booking if you want to go!

Weston Turville U3A Newsletter – May 2014

Wt Church gateA FEW WORDS FROM OUR NEW CHAIRMAN: My Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel is called Spock. He is neither Vulcan nor particularly logical. He has a sense of humour but prefers the old jokes. Each morning, he greets me full of enthusiasm, energy and curiosity. He is ready to seize the day. They say dogs take after their owners. I hope I take after my dog. I would encourage WTU3A members to seize the day and, perhaps, occasionally wag their read more …
