24 July, 2013

Wt Church gate

Hello everyone … What a strange month …

Firstly I was not expecting to be writing a newsletter this month but due to the change of meeting dates, I thought you may like to know what is happening!

And secondly, who would have thought we would be in the middle of a heat wave. Mind you it will probably be raining by the time you read this. Still, at the end of this letter I have copied some advice from the people who know about how to cope in heat waves….it may be useful for some of you! The meeting this Thursday has had a change of speaker due to the date change.

melting-dog

You know its hot when the dog starts to melt!

Some of you will remember Betty Page who does comical monologues, well she has agreed to stand in at short notice and give us another dose of afternoon humour. So come for a laugh or a secret smile; this Thursday 2.30 Weston Turville Rugby Club. Please do not arrive before 2pm! Thank you.

Burglary prevention

18 July, 2013

thief

With the current spell of warm weather the Aylesbury Town and Rural Neighbourhood Policing Teams are asking local residents to be vigilant with the security of their homes.

When it is warm it is easy to leave windows or doors open when either enjoying your garden, or in another part of your home. If you can’t see these windows / doors from where you are, it would be easy for an opportunist thief to gain access, steal your property and leave, without you even noticing.

Please remember not to leave accessible windows open at the front of your property when you are in your back garden and make sure that all accessible doors and windows are shut and locked before you go to bed. Don’t make life easy for opportunist criminals!

Make sure you report any suspicious activity at the time it is happening, to the Police. If you can, obtain a description of them, along with details of any vehicle they are using, especially the registration number. If the police are called at the time we stand a better chance of catching them.

Phone any suspicious incidents through to the Police via the 24 hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101, or if a crime is in progress dial on 999.

Shed Security

11 July, 2013

Thames Valley Alert

As thefts from garden sheds and outbuildings continue to be reported across the Vale, please take a moment to review the security of your own buildings.

The attachments (below), give some good tips and advice on increasing the security of sheds, garages and outbuilding.  The harder it is for a potential criminal to break in, the more likely they are to not try in the first place.

  • Many security measure cost little or no money, such as:-Shed alarms – which can be purchased from DIY stores and garden centres and emit a loud noise if the padlock is tampered with.
  • Anti–tamper screws – these can used on doors read more …

Do you know how to report a fraud?

1 July, 2013

Action FraudSix months since a new way to report fraud was introduced in the Thames Valley, residents are being reminded to remember Action Fraud.
