UPDATED: The speaker at the February meeting, Bernard Lockett, who gave us a most enjoyable talk about Gilbert & Sullivan has let us know that the G&S Festival shows will be taking place in Buxton (24-29 July) and Harrogate (7-18 August) this year. Details can be found at www.gsfestivals.org. Also details of the National G&S Opera Company 2019 Tour can be found at www.ngsoc.org

Most of the groups have their 2019 programme well under way, and the new Theatre Visits group has got off to a flying start, so we are very pleased to announce details of another new group starting – Touch Tennis (aka Short Tennis).

Marcia Watson, our speaker for our 25th October meeting, who came to talk to us about Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), asked us to pass on her heartfelt thanks to all our lovely members who left money in the GOSH tin. This came to an incredible……£165. 51!
Marcia undertook her nursing training at the hospital and gave an inspiring talk about the history and ground-breaking work of GSOH. read more …

Our speaker for the next meeting on the 27th September is William French aka “William the Butler” who will be talking about his career path which took him from the Royal Navy serving on HMS Britannia, via the Falklands war to a 25 year career travelling the world.

The June Newsletter is now available to read in full here, and as usual there is a lot going on in our Groups and a coffee morning for new members that have joined since January. The talk at the general meeting is entitled “Props and Pros, Classic Monologues with Betty Page”.
We can take pride in having The Aylesbury Duck WTU3A Extreme team take part in the AVDC Soapbox Derby again, and there was too much to mention in the newsletter, so for a full commentary on the event click here.
