Extreme Visits – Done and To Do

Extreme Done – Slotcar Racing; 4th November

An unusual day all round, to start with, most of us arrived at Northwood Hills by public transport! The venue, should you recognise it was a re-purposed S&M dungeon and we are all in favour of recycling.
The track was 41 metres long and there was a sophisticated race control system. There were many heats to ensure everyone had raced on each of the 8 lanes and took an equal share of the marshalling (basically putting cars that had spun off back on the track).
The final race of the day Grand Prix was won by Tony Irvine, with Roger Everson and Eddie Lyon following. This was followed by some crash and burn races, where your car was not put back on the track if it spun off or hit another car that had. Really recommended for a party venue for your grandchildren.
Tony reliably informs me that S&M stands for Scalextric and Meccano should you receive any festive invitations in future.
Extreme To Do – Indoor Karting; 2nd December
An opportunity to try out Rogue Racing’s new facility and fleet of karts.

Damian has managed to negotiate us a great deal with a discount over normal concession midweek rates!
£25 per racer. Cheques to “Weston Turville U3A (Travel)” October General meeting.
Event full, but only a short wait list.
Extreme To Do – Surfs Up; 20th January – Twinwood.
A chance for a winter Flowboarding (surfing / wakeboarding) experience in the warm, no expensive plane tickets required!
You don’t even need to be able to swim. You are riding 2inches of water above a soft membrane like a bouncy castle, though the photos don’t need to show that.
£20 per surfer. Cheques to “Weston Turville U3A (Travel)” October General meeting.
