Weston Turville U3A do it again!

1 July, 2016

Pic 1 on the dayOver the last few months you have probably been aware that the Extreme Visits group have been designing and constructing a go-cart to enter the Aylesbury Town Council Soapbox Derby.

That event took place on 19th June. Our entry, lovingly named Jemima, may not have been the fastest go cart there, but the general public took her to their hearts. It may have been her plaintive quacking in the pits, her egg laying capabilities on the run, or even her final glorious transformation to a mallard that earned her votes. Pic 3 on the day I am delighted to tell you that she was the winner of the people’s choice “Best Looking” award and her team were able take the winner’s podium to be presented with the trophy.
Pic 2 on the dayThanks must go to all those who helped in any way with the design and construction (some of whom will now be suffering from empty-nest syndrome); to the long -suffering wives and to everyone who came to support the team.
On their number-plate, proudly displayed, were the U3A principles Learn, Laugh and Live. I think everyone involved with this project certainly did that. Our heartiest congratulations go to them all!
