Christmas Lunch – 15th December – Pendley

A date for your diary … and action
The WTU3A Christmas Lunch will again be held at Pendley Manor Hotel, Tring. The tickets will be £28 and will include a raffle.
Mary Duly will start taking reservations at the August Monthly meeting, and not before, and reservations will close at the October Monthly meeting.
Reservations may be made individually, as a couple, or a small group if you indicate with whom you wish to sit. Alternatively a group of 10 may reserve a table with one person responsible for the reservation and full cost of the table made upon reservation.
Extreme Visits – Bat Walk – Sept 8th CANCELLED

As extreme visits go, this is not really extreme – but it should be very interesting!
A small group ** early booking warning ** will be lead around the Weston Turville reservoir on the night of September 8th by Susan Makepeace who is a committee member of the North Bucks Bat Group. Using provided bat detectors we will stumble about in the dark hoping to locate Pipistrelles and Daubentons (? I thought they were a family in Downton Abbey!) – such fun!
Read all about it and apply early Bat Walk details
Medical Detection Dogs – Community Award
As John Beer announced this afternoon at the July general meeting, the Medical Detection Dogs Charity, that was represented by Geoffrey Farrer-Brown at our April meeting, is up for an award offered by the Masonic Charitable Foundation – the size of which is determined by the number of votes they receive.
While we cannot possibly suggest that you vote for the Medical Detection Dogs Charity, or that you even vote at all, it is worth noting that the voting period will close on the 31st July (Monday). So if you are going to vote for the Medical Detection Dogs Charity, or any other, of course, DO IT SOON!
Voting for, say, the Medical Detection Dogs Charity could increase the award which could rise to a staggering £25,000.
Wendover Architecture Group Update

The lead convenor of Wendover’s architecture group, would like to advise Weston Turville U3A members who are interest in that group of some changes to the way the group operates.
Meetings are in Weston Turville at the Union Chapel hall and the Architecture Group pages on Wendover’s U3A website give information about visits/lectures/meeting format etc. We are invited to view the web page and have a look at what they are doing!
Although the group is fairly full at present, there are a few spaces and are happy to accommodate anyone who may be interested in joining their friendly and active study group.
